Quick Bits & Best Reads for 7.3 – by Sarah

Avengers #15: Prelude to Infinity Part 2 – MARVEL – I started picking up Avengers off and on recently. The introductory arc was too much Hickman for me but I’m liking it as Infinity begins to come together.

Avengers A.I. #1 – MARVEL – Hank Pym and a team of other assorted android/cybernetic/synthetic members. Sam Humphries. * The AGE OF ULTRON is over! The AGE OF A.I. is NOW!

Daredevil: End of Days HC – MARVEL – In the near future, the Kingpin and Daredevil have been murdered – but that’s just the beginning. Reporter Ben Urich has one last story to write: What was Matt Murdock’s final secret? Ben digs deep into the seedy underbelly of the Marvel Universe, tracking down Matt’s buried sins and past loves to discover the secrets behind his death. Collecting DAREDEVIL: END OF DAYS #1-8. Seasoned Daredevil readers will appreciate the nuances interwoven throughout the glimpses of Matt’s life.

Daredevil: Dark Nights #2/8 – MARVEL – Lee Weeks is writing and drawing the first three issues of this eight issue anthology. In his story the mother-of-all blizzards has completely shut down NYC, Daredevil is recovering from a severe concussion – and he is the only hope for a little girl in desperate need of a heart transplant!

Detective Comics #22 – DC – The Emperor Penguin storyline is finally over and John Layman has made Detective a book now happily at the top of the stack. Art by Jason Fabok doesn’t hurt, either.

Emerald City of OZ #1 – MARVEL – The sixth adaptation of Frank L. Baum’s other stories about Dorothy Gale and the wonderful world of Oz. Skottie Young‘s whimsical art is an excellent accompaniment to Eric Shanower’s script.

New Avengers NOW Vol 1: Everything Dies HC – MARVEL – To prevent the collision of our universe with another, the Illuminati must reassemble. Jonathan Hickman and Steve Epting.

Green Lantern #22 – DC –  The second issue after Geoff John’s finale and still holding strong. Kilowog has replaced Salaak and Hal is in charge of the entire Green Lantern Corps and a brand new batch of poozers!

Satellite Sam #1 – IMAGE –  SEX o DEATH o LIVE TV! NEW YORK CITY, 1951: The host of beloved daily television serial ‘Satellite Sam’ turns up dead in a flophouse filled with dirty secrets. The police think it was death by natural causes but his son knows there was something more.  Matt Fraction!

Superior Foes of Spider-Man #1 – MARVEL – This was pretty good! Witty, well-planned story, great art.  A book that’s easy to pick up and enjoy.  Nick Spencer and Steve Lieber.  Boomerang and some of Spidey’s deadliest baddies prove that with terrible powers come terrible responsibilities!

Swamp Thing #22– DC – Since Rotworld ended I’ve been picking up Swampy and have really enjoyed it.  These stories are a little more straighforward but still plenty trippy.  Written by Charles Soule, who seems to be the clean-up writer for DC. Everything that I like that I’ve tried lately because I hadn’t liked it before has been written by Charles Soule. Check him out!     The mysterious Seeder has given a desperate town in Scotland an astonishing gift: a tree that bears whiskey like fruit! It’s a disturbance in the natural order that draws the Swamp Thing’s attention-trouble is, it’s caught the eye of John Constantine as well!

Trinity of Sin Pandora #1: Trinity War Prelude – DC – I am intrigued!  Pandora is on an action-packed, blood-soaked mission to hunt down the horrors she inadvertently unleashed upon the world. Can she save the DCU-and redeem herself in the process?

Uncanny X-Men NOW Vol 1: Revolution – MARVEL – Brian Michael Bendis & Chris Bachalo craft the complementing series to All-New X-Men. Cyclops, Emma, Magik, and Magneto all have broken powers but still they try to protect the innocent.
