COMING UP NEXT with Martinez – 12/17/14

A look at what our resident opinionated blogger type, Martinez (Pie-Cast) has to say about this week’s upcoming releases.

This Week’s Picks of the Pulls:

DjangoZorro02CovCSubHardmanDjango/Zorro #2 by Quentin Tarantino, Matt Wagner and Esteve Polls

Do you need some more Westerns in you life? Then you should pick up Django/Zorro. The first issue was fantastic debut issue, a great opening act if you will. Fortuitous events brought Django and Diego de la Vega together. Don Diego enlists Django to help with with his newest endeavor, taking down corruption and slavery in Arizona. Tarantino is contributing here, so it’s almost like it’s canon. Fans of cowboys and gunfights; seriously just pick it up.

STK657352Rocket Salvage #1 by Yehudi Mercado and Bachan

I often find that some people, including myself, forget that comics are supposed to fun. Well this week, I’m picking up this book to help remind me. I don’t really need to know to much about the creative team, I just think the premise is funny and that’s good enough for me. An old space racer runs a space salvage yard with his clone-son and clone-daughter. Yeah, you’ll enjoy this one.

rumble_01rgbRumble #1 by John Arcudi and James Harren

The Image #1 train keeps chugging along…

You might recognize this creative team from some B.P.R.D. books. It seems like they’ll be bringing some of that darkness to this creator-owned title. What intrigues me most about Rumble is that we haven’t been told much about the plot. A mythical scarecrow fighter walks into a bar and the bartender’s life is changed because of it. The only way to find out how or why is to read the book.
