COMING UP NEXT with Ivy & Martinez – 5/21/14

COMING UP NEXT, a look at what our two resident opinionated blogger types, Ivy (Women Write About Comics) and Martinez (DE Pie-Cast) have to say about this week’s upcoming releases! Without further ado:

Ivy’s Picks of the Pull:

Saga_19Saga #19 by Brian K. Vaughan & Fiona Staples

There’s really only one thing I’m super excited for this week, and please allow me to summarize it like this: Saga is back Saga is back Saga is back Saga is back Saga is back Saga is back Saga is back Saga is back Saga is back SAGA IS BACK

The Rest of Ivy’s Pull for 5/21/14: Amazing X-Men #7, Daredevil #3, All New Doop #2, Elektra #2, Original Sin #2, Uncanny X-Men #21, Wolverine and the X-Men #4

Martinez’s Picks of the Pull:

eastofwest_12East Of West #12 by Jonathan Hickman & Nick Dragotta

Eisner Award Nomination: Best Continuing Series, Best Writer, Best Penciler/Inker, Best Coloring

So I’m not usually a Hickman fan. I’ve actually turned some people away from of his titles. However, East Of West is not one of those titles. This book has everything I like. It’s Sci-Fi, Its Western, the art is badass, etc etc. The story is set up in a North America that has been divided into different nations after the Civil War. A catastrophic event has taken place that has changed the face of society. Up to this point, we’ve been introduced to all of the players and the story is starting to present itself. I’ve been hooked since #1.

ARCHAIA_Last_Broadcast_001_WEB.1The Last Broadcast #1 by Andre Sirangelo & Gabriel Iumazark

It’s not always good for my wallet but I love checking out any interesting #1’s that come out. This one looks really interesting. A group of urban explorers find a vaudevillian magician’s secret bunker underneath a city. The solicit promises some occult business will go down. It sounds like a lot of fun, the creators are fresh, and the art looks cool. Those are reasons enough for me to try it out.

The Rest of Martinez’s Pull for 5/17: 7th Sword #2, Adventure Time #28, Amazing X-Men #7, Uncanny X-Men #21, Velvet #5
